Landlord Witness Rape Of Innocent Pregnant Woman

On Tuesday night December 8, 2009 landlord, Arnold Springer, heard stranger loud noises followed by a human scream.  At first he believed it was an animal, but he heard a woman scream so he decided to go out and find the source of the noise.  Not only did he find the source of the sound but he also witnessed a rape.  Springer looked through his window and saw his 38 year-old female neighbor who was 4 months pregnant being raped.  He told reporters that he heard her yelling, “Don’t do that.” And “Stop it…stop it now. Stop it I’m going to call the police.”  Springer tried helping the woman by knocking on the window in hopes that it would scare the attacker off; however, the attacker didn’t even pay attention and stop.  When Los Angeles Police Department officer arrived at the scene the saw Eun Kang and her unborn child dead as a result of being stabbed and a Boneetio Nentro Washington, 22 year-old man, her alleged rapist, standing over her. On Thursday December 10, 2009 Washington was charged with three counts of capital murder with special circumstances of multiple murders, murder and rape while a burglary and one count of sexual penetration. Prior to this incident reports state that Washington attended a state mental facility previously this year and that the also had many prior arrests for burglary, trespassing and misdemeanor trespassing.  Many people who knew the victim said she was very nice who did not deserve.  Springer commented that, “she wouldn’t [have even] hurt a fly.”  Police officers stated that Washington had not respect for her life, human life, and or even the life of an unborn child.

When I read about events like this it makes me really sad that people like this exist in this world.  I feel that the world is not a safe place and that I would rather live any where but here.  The part of the article that surprises me the most is that a doctor said he was no harm and was mentally stable and released him out a mental institution where he belonged.  Washington’s doctor should have done a better job of determining whether or not he was fit for standing trail because if had decided to keep him locked up Kang still might be alive.  I hope that people like Washington get locked up for the rest of their lives so that they cannot hurt anymore people. He took an innocent woman’s life away and stole away a baby’s opportunity to life. I find Washington to be a worthless scum of the earth.  He rapped an innocent woman and killed an unborn child.

People should learn to do to others what they want done to them selves.  I doubt that Washington would want to be rapped and stabbed; therefore, he should not have done that to Erun Kang.  It shocks me that there are people like this in the world.  I do not understand how someone can have no regard for the lives of other people and wake up one morning and decide to kill.  I hope all the people in the world who commit murder and rape disappear so that the world can be a safe place.

The Deathly Outcome of Illegal Street Racing

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/12/two-men-plead-guilty-in-rowland-heights-street-racing-death.html

On March 2, 2008 Elia Sibiano Munoz and Brain Rene Galvez engaged in illegal street racing, in the Rowland Heights vicinity at speeds of higher than 80 miles per hour.  Their illegal dangerous but friendly race turned resulted in the death of an innocent civilian, Ondrea Alvarez.  Morales states that due to the high speed Munoz was going he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole that cause the unfortunate death of a young women.  On December 4, 2009 the two men pleaded guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter while under-the-influence.  Shiara Davila-Morales, the spokeswoman for the Los Angles Country district attorney’s office, announced that Munoz and Galvez are sentenced at 10 years in prison as an outcome of the plea with the prosecution.

In my opinion there is a reason why laws are made and that people should not break them.  For example in this incident there is a law against street racing because it is not only dangerous for the drivers involved in the race but for innocent people around.  In this case if Munoz and Galvez didn’t break the law then Ondrea Alvarez could possibly still be alive; however, but since they didn’t follow the rules she is dead.  Street racing is one of the most deadly things; it is the cause of so many vehicle accidents that result in death.  People only participate in street races to look cool and feel an adrenaline rush for going that fast.  People should realize that there are other ways to look cool and get that rush of adrenaline; for instance they could go bungee- jumping, which is a safe recreational activity.

As a legal driver on the road, when I hear about events like this it makes me scared for the safety of others and my own safety.  Those two men should have considered the consequences of their actions and the danger the imposed on innocent people’s lives as a result of their race.  I hope that this tragedy opens the eyes of millions of people and shows then the hazards to street racing and why they should not partake in illegal activities likes street racing.

Terrorist Attack on a Train in Moscow

http://www.latimes.com/news/nation-and-world/la-fg-russia-train29-2009nov29,0,6036378.story

In Moscow on Friday at 9:30 p.m. terrorist attacked the Nevsky Express a train which carried more than 650 passengers. The train derailed at about 125 mph, after coming in contact with a homemade bomb that was similar to almost 15 pounds of TNT.  This horrible incident resulted in the death of approximately 26 passengers and left a large number of innocent civilians injured.  Due to the copious amount of damages and injuries emergency relief workers were called in to help and have transported some of the critically injured people to nearby hospitals.  Unfortunately Russian authorities have no leads but have found pieces of the bomb and are searching for more evidence that could lead them to whoever is responsible for this tragic event.

According to passengers on the train there was a loud noise, which sounded like the train had had collided with an object or something.  Boris Gruzd stated that the train trembled and items of luggage began to drop from the shelves and hit the heads of many people. He also said that the train felt like it was skidding and then subsequently he smelt a burning smell pass through the train. Many other passengers who were on board when the train derailed said to interviewers that the crash was “devastating”.

I cannot imagine what it must have been like to experience such a tragedy.  My heart and sympathy goes out to all those people who were on the train when it exploded and to those people who had love ones on the train.  I find it so sad to believe that there are people in this world who are capable of such cruel acts and that have no remorse or guilt for blowing up a train that carried a large quantity of innocent people.  It takes a truly horrible and disturbed person to hurt innocent people that they do not even know; whoever is responsible for this attack had no right to hurt these people just because he was either angry or bitter. I hope that the police catch who ever is responsible for this attack and punish them.

BMW Burglaries

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-bmw-bandits18-2009nov18,0,1893717.story

Burglars normally break into cars to steal valuable object such as laptops and glasses; however, in the Westside and Mid-Wilshire region headlights, airbags, and other auto parts have been stolen from cars.  These crimes often tend to occur around Waring Ave., La Cienega Blvd., Sixth Street, and Hayworth Ave. at night.  The fact that the burglar or burglars have ignored the other valuable possessions in the car and only stolen parts is not the strangest part of the story; the detail that interests car owners the most is that the person or people responsible for the break-ins are only stealing from high end BMWs.  In addition the police announced that the break-ins have only happened to 3 and 5 series models.  Authorities state that air bags cost approximately thousands of dollars on the black market, which is why the thief or thieves have been stealing them. According to Detective Mike Smith of the West Los Angeles Police Division, BMW are very difficult to break into, which is why most people are shocked by how quickly the thieves break into the cars and go unnoticed.  As a result of these burglaries many BMW owners think twice about where they drive and park their cars in fear that they will the next victims.

I find this article to be extremely shocking, concerning, and frightening.  I have a BMW and I know how loud the alarm is, so for a person to break into the car with out going unnoticed is very difficult.  Thus showing me exactly how careful and well planned the burglar or burglars are.  It is my belief that the person or people responsible for the string of burglaries used to work at a BMW dealership.  In order for someone to break-in without drawing attention to him or herself, take out the airbag unbelievably quickly with out damaging it must have had a lot of experience working with BMWs.  Therefore, leading me to the conclusion that the thief or thieves had to work for BMW previously.

It is amazing to see how hopeless people have gotten as a result of the declining economy to steal parts of cars to earn money.  Every time the economy goes down the rate of crime goes up.  Thus leading me to think that as the economy continues to get worse so will the heinous crimes people commit as an outcome of desperation and confusion.  I hope the current economic situation in the United States gets better, so people can go through the day with out worrying about it they will be a targeted and a victim of a horrible crime.

Governor’s Solution To Crowded Prisons

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-prisons13-2009nov13,0,4349520.story

On Thursday November 12, 2009 Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger granted permission to federal judges to reduce prisoners sentences in order to decrease the amount of the prisoners in jail.  The reason as to why the Governor told the federal judges to do so is because currently jails are overcrowded and he hopes that new private jail facilities will be built.  However, later Governor Schwarzenegger denied his idea of how to make jails less crowded and said that idea was illegal.  Earlier in September when the governor presented his original proposal to three judges who rejected it and said they would find him in contempt of court if he did not follow through on their demand for a proposal that would decrease the amount of prisoners by 40,000 in a two year period.  Governor Schwarzenegger stated that his idea would create availability for 42,000 inmates by December of 2011.  He said this would be possible as a result of new construction and limitations on sentencing charges of inmates the state imprisons. Other judges like Thelton Henderson and Lawrence two U.S. District Judges and Judge Stephen Reinhardt from the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals asked Governor Schwarzenegger’s to provide them with a plan to decrease the number of inmates in a prison because they are currently overlooking lawsuits that deal with the underlining problem of crowded jails.

The governor’s plan to decrease the amount of inmates could be potentially more dangerous for citizens. His plan includes reducing sentencing of inmates, construction to make more jails, placing more criminals on house arrest, having less convicted felons serve in state prisons and more in county jails, and reducing sentencing for property crimes.  This idea could put dangerous criminals back on the street to offend again and commit even more horrendous crimes. Another part of his plan is to have the state establish space for new high-security private prison beds in California and outside of the state.  Meaning that the state would have to budget more money for the development of high-security private prisons when they are already spending a copious amount of money on prisons.

I believe that prisons are indeed over crowded but that does not mean that guilty felons should receive shorter sentences for breaking the law.  Instead the government should focus on making larger prisons that could obtain more inmates therefore allowing the proper sentencing to be given based on the intensity of the crime.  The governor should really think about the inmate’s victims and how they would feel if the prisoners sentence was reduce because the jail could no longer accommodate them.  In other words they are saying to the victims that the inmate did commit a crime but they cannot be properly punished because the jail is too crowded.  It is my opinion that in order to make prisons less populated the state should build bigger jails, in order for convicted felons fulfill their enter sentences without having the prisons being overflowed with inmates.

Court Spares Murder’s Life

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-deathrow2-2009nov02,0,5929506.story

In 1981 Fernando Belmontes invaded the home of 29 year old Steacy McConnel and stole her stereo and later sold it for $100.  In addition to robbing the young women he also took her life. Belmontes took a barbell and repeatedly beat Steacy with a barbell, which resulted in her death.  The following year after the invasion and murder Belmontes was sentenced to the death penalty for viciously killing a young woman. However, over the past twenty years Belmontes case has circulated the federal courts leading to his death sentence being overturned three times in this last ten years by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.  This case has lead to a battle between the prosecutors of California and the 9th Circuit over Mr. Fernando Belmontes’ death sentence.

Throughout the trial and case there has been a lot of errors, bias, and significant information that has been left out.  It was his lawyer who forgot to mention details about his childhood that might have made the jury more compassionate, the jurors who might have not have been impractical after he converted to Christianity, and the fact that he killed another person two years prior.

According to the article even though California has the largest death row in the entire nation very few of those prisoners end up being executed.  Some people say that because the death penalty costs approximately about 137 million dollars a year, court officials prefer not to execute prisoner.  Others state that capital punishment should be abolished because it is a flawed and dysfunctional system that uses up money that is better spent elsewhere.

I believe that Fernando Belmontes should receive the lethal injection and face the consequence of his actions.  Him and his lawyer keep appealing to the courts because Belmontes is afraid to die; well that’s to bad for him because I am sure Steacy McConnel didn’t want to die but because of him her life was ended short and very brutally.  If Belmontes is so afraid to die then he should not have committed a horrible and violent crime.   I think that court should stop overturning his death penalty conviction and remember that he deserves to die because he killed another person so if he is alive why does she have to be dead.  The judges should also remember that Steacy had parents and a family that probably cared so much about her and still miss her and that they want justice for Steacy who was an innocent victim that was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It is my opinion that people have the right to life and no one should be killed; nevertheless, there are some people who commit repulsive acts that they deserve to die as punishment.  All those imamates on death row have done something so appalling that their peers feel the only way to truly punish them is to kill them.  Which I why I believe in capital punishment; if one citizen takes the life of another innocent person then why should that guilty citizen have the right to live but the innocent person not?  If a person does not want to die via lethal injection then they should follow the law and not murder other people.  A person should only have the right to life if they deserve it and follow the one important rule, do to others what you want to be done to you.

Amgen Inc. Alleged Aransep Drug Scam

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-amgen31-2009oct31,0,2321192.story

“There is only one sin. And that is theft…When you tell a lie, you steal someone’s right to the truth” (Hossieni).  This is one of my favorite quotes written by Khaled Hosseini in his famous novel The Kite Runner.  By stealing you take another person’s right; when you break into someone’s house you are stealing that person’s right to safety. When a child is raped the rapist is stealing that kid’s innocence. I strongly believe that stealing is the worst crime anyone can commit, and any human being who steals truly has no heart and is an evil person.

Massachusetts Federal court has pressed charges against Amgen Inc. for supposedly collaborating with International Nephrology and ASD Healthcare to produce and provide illegal documentation to various medical companies such as Medical and Medicaid programs. Amgen has been forging documents in order to receive payments for drugs they have given away to patients for free. A result of these illegal documentations Medical groups in addition to the state Mediciad Program have lost a significant amount of money.  According to the LA Times Amgen Inc. have been bribing doctors to sale more of Aranesp, a drug that is given to help treat anemia. The prosecution is also saying that Amgen has other words, Amgen has been doing illegal acts in order to increase their sales of an anemia drug known as Aransep.

It is my opinion that if these allegations about Amgen Inc. turn out to be the truth the CEO of the company should be ashamed of him self and locked up. Amgen Inc. has been stealing the state Medicaid Programs money and their right to the truth. I my mind if there is any truth to this rumor Amgen Inc. would have committed an irresponsible, selfish, sinful act all to receive more money.  If they really have done this then Amgen Inc. proves that all they care about is themselves, because they definitely did not think about all the people and other business they would hurt by falsifying fake documents.

Anyone who does hurtful acts to only benefit themselves regarding money has no emotion.  Sure money might bring that person temporary satisfaction, but then when they think about the person they had to lie and cheat in order to get their money does that bring them satisfaction too? People should remember that money does not bring happiness; however, being a good person, performing good deeds, and treating other people well will make you happy. Amgen Inc. should try to remember this if they really did lie, steal from, and cheat the Medical Companies for money.

Legislators Support Banning of Divorce

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/10/ban-divorce-ballot-effort-gets-ok-to-gather-signatures.html

Today Debra Bowen, the Secretary of State, showed John Marcotte support by backing his proposal to ban divorce in California, but still allow the annulments of marriages.  John Marcotte wants to ban divorce within the state in order to save the government over millions of dollars that they spend yearly to fund court divorce proceedings.  Legislators gave him until March 22, 2010 to gather 694,354 registered voter’s signatures to place his proposition on next years ballots.

I believe that John Marcotte’s idea to outlaw divorce is absurd and unconstitutional. The government should have no right to take peoples right to a divorce away just to save money.  If a couple feels the need to end their marriage by getting a divorce it is their every legal right to do so.  What a couple wants to do regarding their marriage is between them and only them.

If John Marcotte’s proposal is accepted and becomes a law chaos will erupt.  There is a reason why divorce is legal and court is involved in the divorce process.  And that is because with out a judge residing over the proceedings their will be a great deal of argument over who gets what and custody of the children.  For this reason in my opinion the mere thought of legalizing the ban on divorce in California should be disregarded by the government because it will do more harm than good in everyone’s life.

Glorified Governor Signs Education Bill

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-education-firewall14-2009oct14,0,3475835.story

The citizens of California along with the top education official of the nation showed admiration Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, subsequent to him signing the SB 19 bill.  They were ecstatic about the governor singing the bill because the bill would allow California to be able to receive competitive federal funding.  In addition to signing the bill Governor Schwarzenegger advised other legislators to approve other legislations which would improve education in California.  Numerous amounts of citizens and government officials consider the governor to be a savior for children.  They believe this because when he signed the bill he gave many young children the opportunity to receive a good education thus giving them a chance at a good future and life.

With out a lot of knowledge and education a person would be lost in the world.  Education is one of them most important tools to being successful in life.  Education allows people to develope important life skills that apply to their every day life.  As an outcome of the state cutting on funding for education they lessen the amount of information a student learns would could jeaporize their survival in the world.  For this reason the government should to their best to spend more money on education rather than other unnecessary things.

It is my opinion that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger made a very intelligent and beneficial decision to sign the SB 19 bill.  The economical situation that California is experiencing is decreasing the funding for many government financed institutions, one of them being public schools.  Therefore, due to the economical recession the overall education level in California has decreased because of lack of money provided by the state.  Which, leads me to believe that as a result of Governor Schwarzenegger signing the education bill formally known as SB 19 current and future citizens of California will be able to receive a higher quality of education.

Kidnapped and Murdered On the PCH

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/10/officers-search-for-gunshot-victim-after-traffic-stop-uncovers-kidnapping.html

After reading this article I believe no person is safe in this world.  We live in a world full of deceiving people who are capable of the most horrible crimes.  This article shows how terrible and dangerous one person can simply be.  In this article a man kidnapped a woman and shot her husband and threw his body out along the Pacific Coast Highway.   In my opinion the kidnapper has no heart yet alone any compassion for other human beings.

The world is changing and not in a good way. People used to be able to park their car and leave it unlocked wiht out worrying about it being stole.  But in today’s world a person worries about parking their car in a bad neighborhood in fear that something might happen to it.   Currently citizens are under so much stress due to economic situtations that they result to harming other poeple instaed of taking their frustration out in a healthy manner.

I prefer to live in a world were I could go for a walk in middle of the night with out worrying about being kidnapped or killed; however, the possibility of that ever happening is slim.  There are several other people out there in the world who are just as dangerous and out of control as the kidnapper in the article; and the scary thing is that there is no way of determining who is a crazy kidnapper killer and who is a normal citizen.  All anyone can hope is that they never get to personally meet those citizens who choose to harm innocent people.
